J.R. Reed began covering the Long Beach Ice Dogs in 2000 for newspapers including The Anchorage Daily News, Idaho Statesman, Fresno Bee, Phoenix Sun and Denver Post.
A Hockeytalk contributor since the site’s 2004 launch, J.R. came aboard January 1, 2013 as Creative Director. co-owner and Web Radio Host. His popular column, J.R.’s Rink Rants, returns this year and he was recently named voice of Hockeytalk Audio Features.
J.R.’s NHL, minor pro and World Junior coverage has appeared in more than forty magazines, web sites and newspapers in North America and Europe. His credits include Mighty Ducks Digest, Face Off (Europe), Spirit (Southwest Airlines in flight magazine) and O.C. Metro where J.R. covered the Ducks for three seasons.
He has been a sports talk radio host and color commentator for Junior B hockey and minor league baseball. He has interviewed hundreds of NHL and minor pro players across numerous leagues, including some of the sport’s biggest names. JR is also known for his appearances on “Duck Calls with Josh Brewster” on AM830 KLAA.
In 2012 J.R. founded Daddio Media to offer social media strategy and content creation services to small and medium sized businesses. He lives in Long Beach along with his 15-year old daughter, Cameron, and a very friendly 11-year-old boxer/pitbull named Lucy.
